Christmas Belgian Beer Fermented in Wine Barrels
Devil’s Grog “Devil’s Grog” is a Belgian Triple brewed in collaboration with Southern Pines Growler Company for their 2nd Anniversary. It was inspired by the delicious Gluvine flavors of mulling spices and red wine. The beer went through a primary fermentation in red wine barrels with a blend of a German Hefeweizen and a Trappist yeast strains, imparting flavors of cloves and plums. We also pitched a small amount of our house Brett culture, imparting a subdued but complimentary wild and sour characteristic. A small amount of mulling spices was added, as well as bee pollen to give it addition sweetness. Devil’s Grog is the perfect beer for the Christmas season, and you will only find it at Southern Pines Growler Company and our own taproom.
